“For a sliding scale to work it relies on the principles of truthfulness, respect for complexity, and accountability.”
I offer sliding scale on my services (unless otherwise noted) because access matters and we all live with different financial realities. I’m committed to fair, equitable pricing for both clients and myself.
Somatic coaching and healing-centered facilitation are deeply underfunded and undervalued—both by institutions and individuals. Many carry beliefs like, “Why should I pay for healing from harm I didn’t cause?” I get it—I’ve thought it too. There are dynamics larger than any one of us at play. Let’s do what we can now, even as we build the public safety nets and collective models to support this work.
This is a solo practice led by a queer, neurodivergent woman of color — not separate from systems of inequity, and actively choosing to support collective care within them. I’ve been taught to give labor away and I’m actively unlearning this, even as unpaid labor remains an expectation, sometimes from the best-intentioned people and groups.
Offering a sliding scale doesn’t mean I don’t need financial support or value this work any less. I am committed to resourcing myself alongside supporting my community and clients— not through unrealistic self-reliance, but through connection and collective care.
Please pay at the highest rate you are able. Sliding scale invites you to choose your rate with intention — reflecting both your capacity and the realities of sustaining a small, heart-centered business. Please don’t automatically default to the bottom of the scale; feel your edge and consider pushing it to support this shared work.
As you consider your needs and honor mine, payment plans and trades are welcome to supplement support. Let’s resource each other.
Warmly,
Sarah Rimmel
